Potential increased risk of birth defects

What does this mean?

If you are pregnant or are thinking about becoming pregnant, talk to you doctor about the potential risk of birth defects while taking topiramate (Topamax).

A recent study published in the journal Neurology suggests that pregnant women who are taking topiramate (Topamax) may have an increased risk of having a child with birth defects. These birth defects can include cleft palate and genital defects.
