What does this mean?

For most patients, the benefits of continuing tamoxifen treatment outweigh the bothersome nature of side effects. Thus, if you have any concerns about taking tamoxifen, you should talk to your doctor before stopping this medicine or even skipping a dose on purpose.

Although some women who take tamoxifen (Novaldex) may experience side effects, a study recently published in the British Journal of Cancer suggests that patients who use this medication for as long as their doctor prescribed see the greatest benefit in preventing the recurrence of breast cancer.
