Safety Alert: Drospirenone with Ethinyl Estradiol
Recall of Several Lots of Yaz and Ocella
What does this mean?
At this time, there have not been any reports of health problems associated with these recalled products. However, since the tablets do not meet manufacturing standards, you should still check to see if you have any of the recalled product. If you take Yaz or Ocella, look at your birth control pack and find the lot number. If your pack has a lot number printed on it that matches one of the lot numbers listed in the recall, you should return it to your pharmacy to examine and possibly exchange. If you cannot find a lot number or if you are not sure if your medicine is involved in the recall, please take your birth control pack to your pharmacist for them to check as soon as possible.

Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals, Inc. has voluntarily recalled several lots of Yaz (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) 3 mg/0.02 mg and Ocella (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol tablets) 3 mg/0.3 mg. Yaz and Ocella are oral contraceptives (often called "birth control") and are primarily used to prevent pregnancy. These lots are being recalled because they did not meet manufacturing standards. The following lot numbers are involved in this recall:
Yaz 3 mg/0.02 mg tablets: Lot 91605A, Exp 12/2013;
Ocella 3 mg/0.3 mg tablets: Lot number 84080A, Exp 12/2011 and lot number 84081A, Exp. 12/2011
