Bipolar Disorder: Overview

Bipolar Disorder, also known as manic depression or bipolar affective disorder, is a condition characterized by episodes of abnormally elevated mood (mania) often punctuated by episodes of abnormal depression. Extreme manic episodes can sometimes lead to psychotic symptoms such as delusions and hallucinations.
