What does it do?
This product is used in the treatment of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and severe depression. Its mechanism of action is unknown.

This product has black box warnings related to increased risk of death when used in elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis, and relating to increased risk of suicidal thoughts and behavior when used in children and adolescents with depression.

I was taking Abilify 5mg to help with my depression. I think it did help for a while, but after a time, it not help any more and I stopped taking it. I gained 50 lbs. and when I stopped taking it, I did not lose the weight. I have been working really hard to lose the weight and so far have lost over 20 lbs. I have joined "Curves" and hope this will help me lose more weight. I have also been on a low calorie diet. I wish I had known more about the side effects of Abilify before I started taking it. I have learned a lesson. From now on I will do research on any new medication I am perscribed.

when abilify and prozac are taken together you only need half as much of the abilify,right? i mean the prozac boosts the abilify in your boodstream by like 112%. my dr. has me on 40 mgs of prozac and 5 mgs of abilify so i am taking a dosage of around about 12 mgs of abilify. i think that is correct.

I am no longer taking Abilify for BiPolar illness. I have controled my mania with natural sleep suplements. My experiance was that during the 2 years that I took the medicine, I was not creative and I could not control my credit card spending. I am currently filing Bankruptcy. I never had any spells (manic) while on the drug but gained weight and debt big time.
