i take NAC for trichillomania..i don't actually pull out my hair...i just can't seem to keep my hands out of it. a study posted on the trichillomania learning center website said that 56% of the group after 9 weeks showed significant improvement in symptom control.and suggested a dose of 600mg twice daily along with vitamin c to activate it. i am taking 500 mg vitamin c with rose hips with the NAC with food. so far no side effects.

N-Acetylcystein is a building block in producing Glutathione the bodies most important cellular antioxident, and it helps reduce the amount of mucas produced, as well as thinning it so mucus can be more easily coughrd up.

I've been taking NAC for over a year, and I find it helpful, with no undesirable effects. It does a great job of thinning mucus and slightly increases my feeling of well-being. I'm on nasal CPAP for sleep apnea, and I use NAC at night before I go to bed, to help keep my nostrils clear. I take 1200 mg at night and if I need its helpful effects in the daytime, I take an additional 600 mg capsule. I recommend it!
