Have been on arimidex for Nearly 4 years, last year doctor changed me to anastrozole I then became extremely tired and had increased musle pains , so although doctors showed disbelief that the change had caused this , I was put back on arimidex , would like to know if any-one else experienced this

I have been on Anastrozole off and on for almost a year after taking Arimidex for three years. I find the joint pains are worse with Anastrozole but can't afford to take Arimidex all the time because of Part D limitations. I also have a lot of itching and I can't be sure it's from Anastrozole but can't help but wonder. I'm looking forward to completing my 5th year next September and will miss the safety net but not the aches and pains that go with both meds.

I started on Anastrazole in Aug 2011 for breast cancer. I didn't have radiation or chemo but did have a mastectomy. Before starting med I had arthritis in my knees and thumb and bursitis in my hip, also osteopenia and I'm overweight. I've felt the bone pain a little more and the hot flashes are a little more intense but I think they may have decreased in number from pre-medication days. After 6 weeks am I experiencing all the side-effects or will more happen the longer I'm on it? I'm 70.
