Global Patient Feedback for Armour Thyroid

I have just recently (April 2011) been switched over to Armour from Unithroid and after several blood tests have noticed a drop in my Free T4 level. It went from 1.68 to .90 and my TSH went from .05 to 1.63. I feel hypo, yet at the same time I have been having periods of rapid heart rate and nervousness. My doctor lowered the dose from 105mg to 97.5mg. I am afraid my Free t4 will drop even lower? And I will feel worse than I do already. What could be causing the drop?

I had an autoimmune flare and it did not stop until I switched from synthroid to Armour Thyroid. I was in a support group and some of the women had a improvement when they switched and I requested it of my MD and I went into remission about 2 months after the switch. I felt out of sync the entire time I was on snythroid. I would either be very hyper of hypo. Now I feel normal.

I am 84 years old and have been on Armour thyroid for 50 years. I have never had side effects but was changed for a short time to Levoxyl and felt terrible, had hair loss, felt jittery and didn't sleep well. I am now back on Armour and feel fine.
