I have read the comments on this site about becoming addicted to Ativan.I was fortunate in this regard with my panic attacks that I could guage the severity of the attacks and medicate accordingly.Mentally I realised that the attacks would end after they started this helped me not to become addicted.

I started getting severe panic attacks and my specialist prescribed Ativan 1mg .I would get these severe panic attacks almost every day.I was told I could use 2 tablets if needed. The frequency of panic attacks deminished. My GP said I could take a maximum of 4 tablets which I did on +- 3 occasions. To date I might take one tablet in the course of four months if that. The side effects for me were loss of energy and falling asleep immediately I got into bed.

I was given Ativan 1mg tablets 3 times a day. I was addicted after 7 days. How do I know this? Well I have never had a panic attack in my life. I was having gall bladder attacks. I went into severe withdrawal from this drug. I figured this out on my own. I was never informed that this drug was addictive as soon as 7 days of taking it. I know drugs act differently in everyone. For me Ativan ruined 2 months of my life. I had to taper off for 6 weeks. I am 3 days free of this drug!
