I am taking Olmetec (20mg) since July 2011. It was stated by a couple of research articles that Olmetec is diuretic-that is results to increased urination. Has anybody had similar experience with this drug? 71 year old male.

I was on Benicar for over 3 years. I started having horrible coughing spells that I thought might be allergies, because Claritin would help. I would get a horrible tickle in my throat and thought it was drainage, but the coughing was more of an asthmatic type. I'd never had allergies before, and the coughing didn't have any type of pattern to it, but it was usually worse in the evenings. A friend warned me that it could be my BP medicine, so I asked my doctor to take me off Benicar and the coughing is gone. I just wanted to warn others that if you are experiencing coughing that you've never had before you started taking any type of BP medicine, please be SURE to tell your doctor!
