I was told to take Calcitriol for six months because my Vitamin D level isn't on the chart, very low, I take 400 Vitamin D a day and drink losts of milk and other dairy, shouldn't they try to find out why i don't make it instead of just giving me something? I'm a 64 year old female. I live in Florida and out in the sun all the time. I only wear sunscreen after 20 minutes if I know I'l be outside.

I had a goiter removed and thyroid removed in 2000. They "accidentally" cut all my parathyroid glands and I have been on Calcitriol ever since. Without it, I get the "tingles" all over! 49 year old female

I lost my thyroid and parathyroids to cancer in 1990. Without the Calcitriol I will quickly develope tetany. My only problem has been with my insurance company claiming that this is a vitamin supplement and therefore not covered. What part of "without this I will die" do they not understand? 61 year old female
