I have been using Voltaren Gel for about 2 years. It is the best thing I have ever used. I only take Celebrex about once a week as long as I keep using the Gel. I have osteoarthritis in about every joint so I use it where ever I need it. I would recommend it to anyone, at least give it a try. I feel it's safer than any NSAID. I am fortunate. it is expensive but my insurance pays for most pf it.

I have some Voltaren gel given to me after shoulder surgery revealed severe arthritis two years ago . However, I rarely used it post surgery and forgot about it. Recently I put it on my hands where arthritis has been bothering me and rubbed some on my lower back which constantly aches (herniated discs, degenerative discs, etc). I know, it's not for the back, and I used it only once because I was seeing my neurologist the next day. But that night the pain in my hands immediately subsided and when I went to sleep without the deep backache pain for the first time in months. Doc recommended the Flector patch for my back and I have been using it every other night for a month as it is quite expensive. My hands are 100 % better and my back aches much less, at least a 70% improvement in my case. I know the cons, but the relief I get makes its use worthwile. I regularly check my blood pressure and it is excellent (I also take Avapro). As I can't take anti inflamatory medicine orally, this has given me the best shot at relief.
