About three years ago I was prescribed Diltiazem and Vytorin. After the problems with Vytorin I was prescribed the simvastatin portion. While into this regimen the pharmacist changed the Diltiazem to cartia because they couldn't get the Diltiazem. After listening to a discussion of these drugs on the radio, I stopped taking both drugs every day and only take them one to three times a week, mostly twice a week. Allegedly I have high blood pressure and elevated cholesterol. I was diagnosed with a heart murmur at the same time. Even though I lowered the doses I take, the tests show not much of a change. They are mostly in the range they should be. I try to watch what I eat as I am also supposed to be pre-diabetic. I had been monitoring that for years with a glucose monitor before the pre-diabetic diagnosis. I had always been very active and I have been going to the "Y" for the last 15 years. I do as much as I can following two hip replacements, spinal fusion, and laminectomy. I now need a shoulder replacement and have problems with the vertebrae in my neck, and sever back pain. I haven't told my doctor of my change with the drug dosages. I also take 100mg of CoQ10. I'm not sure if some of the aches and pains I have are from the drugs or not.

I am aged 73 Having recently been prescribed Flomaxtra for my enlarged prostate I ceased taking my daily Cartia 100mg aspirin fearing it may have an interaction with Flomaxtra . That was about 6 weeks ago and since then I have suffered arthritic aches in both of my shoulders. I do take Glucosamine 1500 daily for my osteoarthritis which with Cartia has helped up to now. Has the exclusion of Cartia caused these aches to occur and is there other anti inflamatory medications I can take safely.

I am 78, have had a quad bypass and have taken Ramipril, an aspirin a day, and Simvastatin for several years. I have no history of angina pain, but suffer from shortness of breath very quickly with any exersion or when walking inclines. My cardiologist recently prescribed Tiazac for me as a possible aid to the shortness of breath problem. I am concerned about the interactions.
