I was on the Interferon Treatment with Ribavirin 1000 mgs a day the first time 15 weeks and it but me in the hospital Kidneys shut down and went into respiratory failure. They told my family I didnt have long to live. WHen thery finally figured out it was the Interferon Treatment I regained my kidneys and lungs back to normal. Second Time with Interferon Treatment was 39 weeks I got so bad and the pain was so terrible that I begged my doctor to finally take me off I had had enough but when they tested me I had cured the liver disease so to me it was worth all the pain and suffering to spend more time with my loved ones otherwise they had predicted 10 years I was 48 years old when I was diagnosed with Fibrois of the liver and Hep C

I took interferon the first time for 24 weeks. The second time for 48 weeks. I also took ribiviran with it. The side effects were brutal and I now have two ulcers, probably diverticulitis, chronic ear infection, arthritis and TB. IT also exacerbated my diabetes.

have been taking Rebif since Feb of 2009, can't tell if it's actually slowing progression since I haven't had another mri, but it seems to have calmed the symptoms a bit; do have the flu like side effects
