I was taking Niaspan 2000 mg a day for nearly 2 years and experienced nausea and vomiting for the last 6 months. I stopped the drug and within 3 days the symptoms went away.

I take 750mg 3 times a day. I don't get a flush any more unless i forget to take it for a day or so. then the first time i take it again i get a flush. Is it still working if i don't get the flush? what are the side effects of niacin? what is the difference between the types of niacin? I DO NOT want to take statins. My mother took them and lost her memory. It improved when she got off them. I have also read that statins don't actually reduce the risk of heart attack just lower the numbers

I have been taking 1500 mg Niaspan since 1996. I have had occasional flushing but if I remember to take 2 81 mg asprin an hour before I usually do not have a problem.
