I was on Plaquenil (brand not generic) for the past 19 years at 200mg. twice a day. I had one visual field exam that was abnormal but returned to normal at next 6 month again. I just had another abnormal with a recheck and one eye was normal but the other eye was improved but not normal. I had been decreased to 200mg. a day due to stomach side effects. I stopped the plaquenil and feel better than I have in 20 years! I live alone and cannot afford vision loss of any type.

Been on Plaquenil for two years and I am SO grateful for it -was in terrible pain. Only side effects is photosensitivity. I have experienced strong burning, seemingly in my muscles, at night. It lasts only about 20 seconds, and occurs when I roll over, or change position. My rheumie just blows it off. It is very strong while it lasts, and rarely occurs during the day. I truly do not know if it is drug-induced or an auto-immune response - a "benefit" of Sjogren's /lupus.

I hvae been on Paquinil for 2 years, about every 2 months i get a topical MRSA infection which is easily treated with mupyricin. Is this due to to immune suppression from the drug?
