I've been taking Trileptal for months now for Bipolar disorder. When I started the dr had me at 300mg. I started getting headaches and loss of appetite with severe nausea and insomnia. I decreased my dose to 150mg and my symptoms went away. I also started taking it in the morning and my insomnia went away. It has stabilized my moods tremendously.

I have been taking Trileptal for a week now - 300 mgm once a day for bipolar. I also have MD and had to go off Seroquel because it made my MD worse. I was also fliching and jerking. So now I'm taking Trileptal to replace it (also taking Gabapentin, Cymbalta). Trileptal makes me just as tired and weak as Seroquel - but the involuntary movements are FAR worse! I have rolling movements in my legs, arms and torso that frighten me and I can't control, and I absolutely can't walk at all.

Two years ago I was put on 1200mg of Trileptal. I too had the blurry vision and the slurred speech but I ended up having a ministroke before I went to the hospital. The doctors there said they couldn't find anything but here it is two years later and my eye doctor said my vision tests suggests I may have had a stroke without me telling him anything. If you start having these side effects, please discontinue use.
