I take one tablet twice a day for Herpes Simplex Keratitis and have done so for over two years. I have no side effects and my eye doctor assures me there are none with this pill to worry about. He said I will probably take it the rest of my life.

Years ago I kept having fever blisters but, I never thought anything of them, a few more people also had them, anyway I went out with a man that I had known for 40 yrs and I knew in my mind that I should have been more careful but, I never had an outbreak not even one but I decided I would go and have a blood test just to be on the safe side and my Dr. tells me it is positive so I ask him is it # 1 or # 2, he says it don't make any difference if you have it you have it, but I have never once had anything but a fever blister, he perscribed generic for valtrex, 400 mlgs a day, and I have been taking them for probably 2 yrs now and still nothing, my fever blisters are gone, can you really tell by a blood test that you have genital herpes? I guess I am just grasping at straws but, I just don't get it.

What happens if you build up a resistance to the medicine and still have outbreaks? How do you know if you have built up a resistance to the medicine? Do you switch to a new medication? I take Valtrex (Generic) daily and still have 3-4 outbreaks a year. I wish there was a medication to help heal the sores quicker. Seems like it takes a few weeks to get cleared up. Anyone else having similar problems?
