What does it do?

This product is primarily used to treat hypertension and heart failure, although it is also used by patients who have had heart attacks because of its association with improved survival. It works by blocking Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE), which plays an important role in controlling blood pressure.

I have been taking Ramipril for approx, 9 years and the only problem (minor) i have experienced is a phlemmy throat in the mornings and slight bruising, The bruising could also be attributed to the astrix tablet as well.

I was given Ramipril increasing eventually to 10mg, however my bp kept rising to a high degree and my doctor introduced a beta blocker Bisopropolol 1.25mg. The beta blocker is a low dose and has lowered my bp somewhat but I have been shaky and have a bad headache and a little disorientated since adding the beta blocker. As the Ramipril didn't lower my bp to a reasonable level is the combination a good thing? thanks for any replies.

I have been taking Altace for about 2 years with excellent results. My blood pressure had been moderately high, and now is within the normal range.
