I was diagnosed as suffering from Gout my elderly Doctor immediateley stopped the medication and said it was not for long time use. I am back on it again to control my Hypertension. Just waiting to see what will happen.

Since taking this drug I have noticed that I am retaining fluid, my legs and ankles puff up. Is this due to the drug?

I have been taking Bendroflumethiazide for 18 months and have had more difficulty with bowel movements than previously. It is, I believe, a diuretic so could it be removing water from the gut thus making motions harder. it seems that way
