I have endured swollen feet/ankles and hands a couple of times in my life, but about 4 wks ago, out of the blue, my feet/ankles began to swell more than ever. After two weeks, and no change in swelling, I saw my doctor. She immediately listened to my breathing and said that I had some fluid around my heart also....WHOA!!! I am only 33 yrs old doc, what's going on?! Put me on Hydroclorothyazide, but not help. One week later, Lasix(furosemide), no change....Now on Bumex...For the first two hours, I am in the bathroom...after that, I hardly pass any urine. The left side of my chest aches(had echocardiogram 2 days ago), and my body is stiff from all the edema. If anyone has any advice, it is more than welcome.

Doctor replaced Furosemide with Bumex recently, for my husband. He has CHF, Diabetes2,has had past renal problems, and takes Pro Crit for anemia. He regularly has Acites and has it drained. This time CT scan showed little fluid though weight had soared from 241 to 271 in 2 mos. Docs blamed it on Holiday Eating!!!! Finally had to go to Hosp., where the Bumex was prescribed on New Years Day. After severe dizziness, dose was cut in half. Today, 01/ 15, rx was dropped and he is back on Furosemide. Dizziness was so bad, he has fallen 6 times in past 2 wks. I think Docs should do more than read the 'good stuff'' about new products before they prescribe them to someone that is so severely ill.
