Taking gliburide 5mg with potasium chloride at any 0mg would cause me weight gain. it's not the gliburide i found to cause the weight but rather gliburide will reduce blood glucose substantially to hypoglicimic. so, i'll pay close attention to gliburide. potasium chloride at any 0mg would cause water retention, and seem to cause the weight gain. thanks! finebone

I am a type II diabetic also. I take 2 metformin,500mg tabs, and glyburide 5mg tab in the morning WITH A MEAL and 2 metformin at night b4 bed with NO glyburide. In the morning @ 3 hours after taking meds, I get the shakes and dizziness if i do not eat something and minor light-headedness even if i do. told my doctor of condition..was instructed to discontinue glyburide for a while(10 days)..keep record of glucose levels...then start glyburide back and keep record of glucose levels. After 2 days of NO glyburide blood sugars went up from avg. of 106 to avg. of 121 for the rest of time...been back on glyburide for 2 days and oddly enough..blood glucose back down already to 106 avg. Downfall of NO glyburide was that i noticed many of my symptoms came back....body aches...fatigue....back pain. Coincidence??????????? anybody notice same when starting glyburide????

I am a typeII diabetic and have solved my roller coaster (High/low blood sugars) using Glyburide. Doctor prescribed a 5mg tab daily. My pharmacy was able to provide 1.5mg tabs which I cut in half (.625mg) and quarters (.313mg). I find with testing in morning and before bed that the half tab will drop my sugars ~50 points and the quarter tab ~30points. My HBA1c has dropped from 5.8 to 5.5 using this approach...no problem with hypoglycemic symptoms now using ~ 1 to1.5mg GB per day... ;-)
