After starting Femara by blood pressure soared and after a year of this, I was told I should start taking blood pressure meds and decided that I'm not going to take a pill to counteract the side effects of the first pill I'm taking. So....I asked my oncologist if there was something else I could take instead of Femara and he put me on Aromasin and after two weeks my pressure was down to 119/79!! Plus, the hot flashes have lessened and feet and ankles aren't so sore when I stand up :)

I just started Femara, and I take it at night since it makes me sleepy. I do feel stiffer. I stopped taking my Lipitor during chemo since all those meds made me really sore, I see my PCP in a couple of weeks, I hope the Femara has not raised my cholesterol and I have to re-start Lipitor. I just started Xgeva, and I have always taken calcium/VitD supplements, now I am really making sure I get my 1000-1500mg per day. I agree moving around more really helps with the stiffness.

I have been on Femara for almost 5 years, about to stop. I was having hot flashes before I had a lumpectomy, and Femara may have caused them to increase. I believe it has caused a decrease in both my red and white blood cells. I'm interested in seeing whether my blood counts go back to normal after I'm off of the drug for a while. Other than that, I have had positively no side effects, no bone or joint aches, or any of the other problems that Ive read about. For me, it's been a very easy, though expensive, medication to take.
