Global Patient Feedback for Geodon

My 35 year Schizophrenic son had been taking resperdol for years. He was putting on too much weight, so his mental health psychiatrist changed his medication to geodon . I noticed my son started taking more of an interest in life again. He bought himself a bike a fishing pole and even a fishing license. At the same time he was taking more of an interest in life he seemed agitated, and frustrated. I feel the geodon was helping my son with the negative symptoms of schizophrenia, I feel that my son needed to be on something else to treat the positive symptoms as well. I feel geodon alone is not enough.

I believe I may be having problems with my blood levels of my Geodon dropping too low. Is this normal? Does anyone else have this problem? I take my medication very regularly--at the same time each morning and afternoon. However, I have recently begun to notice that about 6 hrs after I take my morning dose, I begin to get the shakes, I get horrid hot/cold flashes interchangably, and I start to sweat profusely. I am most uncomfortable during these episodes. The only thing that seems to alleviate them is getting home and taking my geodon at the prescribed time. It happens whether I take the Geodon with or without food...although it happens sooner if I don't take the geodon on a full stomach.

I have been on Geodon for about 3 years and a recent blood test revealed a low white blood cell count. Could this condition (Leukopenia) be related to taking Geodon?
