Global Patient Feedback for Glucophage (Metformin)
Please see our forum guidelines.
Upon beginning Metformin for Type II diabetes, I experienced a serious gas problem, burping strongly upon lying down and thus unable to sleep until all the gas was expelled. Gas is a known side effect of Metformin. The problem was resolved by reducing the dosage from three 500 mg tablets a day to two and taking, near bedtime, enteric-coated peppermiont oil and subsequently Librax , an old standby for abdominal troubles for which modern medicine does not appear to have found any substitute.
