I have been taking a low 10 mg daily dose of Lipitor for 3 years. This was more because one of my doctors thought its association with lower levels of cardiovascular problems would be beneficial rather than because my cholesterol level was actually high (about 160 total). However at my last physical, my level of the "bad" cholesterol was actually deemed to be too low: 91. So my doctor ordered me off Lipitor for three months and my cholesterol levels with be reassessed after that.
