Hello, out of concern about the meds. hctz, metformin, calcium supplement w/vit d, potassium w/minerals. I take all of these meds. First I was taking blood press med hctz and noticed alot of cramps in my legs and sometimes in my hands. Thats when I was told by my doctor to take potassium, so I did. After taking this med for a few years I was told that I was borderline Diabetic. So I went in for the A1C test and results was I had a reading of 7.0 and that I was definitely a Type 2 diabetic. I then investigated some things and found out that hctz elevates you blood glucose levels. By any chance did the hctz med was a cause of the Diabetes? I'm of the Black Race and also found out that hctz doesn't work well with African Americans. I am very concerned, how much of this info is correct. I have also developed some-thing called Nerophathy that started in my right big toe now it is all over my feet and going up my legs.Need an answer.

I sure learned yesterday how well HTZ works. I made the mistake of eating a couple of bags of salted popcorn while waiting for my car to be repaired and ran to the bathroom for the rest of the night. I usually don't eat salty things so this is not a problem but I learned my lesson and will make an increased effort to avoid salty foods.
