I have been using the brand Pepcid 40M for the past 10 years, however my insurance company refuses to pay for the brand and suggested a generic called Famotidine 40M instead. I have tried it and am not certain if it is working the same way Pepcid did. I have been having hair loss and that disturbs me and am not too certain as to why I am taking this, my doctor thinks that it is taking care of black stools that I get occasionally. This is very confusing to me and wonder if the generic medication can cause any of some of the side effects, because the brand Pepcid seemed to work much better to me. 87 year old Female-MediGuard
