I am taking myself off this medication, due to the possibility of it causing Breast Cancer, (which killed my Grand Mother). My Mother also had Uterine Cancer while she was preg. with me, which she had removed after I was born I also had LARGE Fallopian Tube cysts, which where tied off, and then 5 years after my baby was born, I had my Uterus removed, due to a tilted Uterus,& non stop bleeding. My breasts hurt constantly now, to the slightest touch. I have only been allowed 1 Mamm. test , I am 47

I am 69 years old and had a total hysterectomy 20 years ago. I have been on some form of hormone replacement since. Seven years ago, my doctor talked me into quitting and I immediately started having terrible hot flashes where I was drenched in sweat hourly, day and night. After 3 months of this misery, I told my doctor I wanted to go back on a HR and he put me on Premarin. Since my hysterectomy, I have experienced some hair loss which I treat daily with minoxidol (which I buy at Walmart) and that has stopped the thinning. I also take a generic form of Estratest which is estrogen + testoterone. I alternate it with the Premarin (.03 mg). I was having trouble reaching climax during sex and the testoterone solves that problem. I just had a check up with my new doctor who again suggested I try going off the Premarin. She explained the new concerns about cancer etc while saying there was an increased risk taking hormones however, I was in a very low-risk category. I plan to stay on the hormones as long as I can.
