This product is used in the treatment kidney cancer and/or prevent rejection after an organ transplant. It is also approved to treat non-cancerous kidney tumors (renal angiomyolipomas) and a rare type of pancreatic cancer. This product is also used in children to treat a rare brain tumor called subependymal giant cell astrocytoma (SEGA). It works by reducing protein synthesis and growth factors in the body which primarily affects rapidly changing cells.
